The 15 kV ac trains will be assembled at Bombardier plants in Germany and the first of the three-car sets will enter service at the end of 2021.

Each 80-long train will seat around 270 passengers.

Ridership has almost doubled since Västtrafik was established in 1999 and Västra Götaland aims to increase passenger numbers to 130,000 per day by 2035. Västtrafik says this can only be achieved by replacing older rolling stock and increasing capacity through the acquisition of new trains.
