ITCS is a Positive Train Control (PTC) signalling system approved by the US Federal Railroad Administration for operation at up to 177km/h which uses track-to-train wireless links and a vital communications protocol to monitor and control train movements. ITCS reports the status of trains and track occupancy, and uses an on-board computer to control speed and enforce safety functions.

Fenoco's existing Tetra voice communications network will be upgraded to support ITCS data transmissions. Tetra base stations installed on the railway and Tetra on-board radios will use ITCS technology to allow lineside status and train information to be exchanged.
