The line will link Bandar Utama with Klang and will have 26 stations, including one underground station and 25 elevated. In addition to its Trainguard MT CBTC solution, Siemens will also supply an intrusion prevention system and platform screen doors.

The new line will operate at Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) and is expected to serve 36,720 passengers per hour per direction. The MRCB George Kent joint venture is acting as project delivery partner, and the line is expected to open in 2021.

A consortium of CRRC Zhuzhou, Siemens China, and Malaysian partner Tegap Dinamik is delivering 42 driverless trains for the project under a Ringgits 1.56bn ($US 400m) contract awarded in August 2017.
