The contract involves the design and supply of a new vital microprocessor-based interlocking control system. Ansaldo STS will supply equipment for LIRR's Automatic Speed Control (ASC) system, including new interlockings at Hampton Bay and Southampton, new control points at Amagansett and Montauk, and 38 level crossing huts.
The scheme will increase safety and reliability on the line and support LIRR's planned introduction of Positive Train Control (PTC).
