The contract is for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of conventional lineside signalling covering the Oxford, Swindon and Bristol areas. Alstom will supply five of its Smartlock 400 interlockings for the project which is due to be completed in December 2015.
The project forms part of the preparation for the electrification of the Great Western Main Line from London to Bristol and Swansea, and for the planned installation of ERTMS as an overlay.
