POLAND's infrastructure manager PKP PLK has awarded a €35m contract to Bombardier to install ERTMS Level 2 on the 148km Legnica – Wroclaw – Opole line.

The project, which is Bombardier's third ERTMS contract in Poland, will take 26 months to complete.

The line is part of Corridor III linking Germany with Ukraine, and Bombardier is already working on a pilot installation of ERTMS Level 2 on the section from Legnica via Wegliniec to Bielawa Dolna. Bombardier's other Level 2 project in Poland involves a commercial application on the 340km Warsaw - Gdynia main line, which it won as part of a consortium with Thales and Nokia Siemens Networks.
