The first Rs 17.8bn contract has been awarded to the SAFE consortium comprising Hitachi India, Mitsui, and Texmaco, and covers the 917 route-km long double-track line from Rewari to Vadodara. The Rs 6.1bn second contract, which covers the installation of Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) on the 1370 route-km between Rewari and Jawaharlal Nehru Port, has been awarded to the I-N Signal consortium, which comprises Hitachi Limited, Hitachi India, and Mitsui.

As consortium leader, Hitachi will manufacture key equipment for the signalling system, while Mitsui will provide overall coordination and Hitachi India will procure and supply locally-produced products.
