Stantec will be responsible for design, construction, and commissioning oversight to ensure the successful delivery of the project from ground breaking through to opening. Design review of the project has already started under Ontario’s definition of allowable construction projects.

The Hurontario line will connect the growing cities of Mississauga and Brampton near Toronto and will run from the Port Credit GO commuter rail station near Lake Ontario north via Cooksville GO station and Mississauga City Centre to Brampton Gateway Terminal, with 19 stops.

The Mobilinx consortium was awarded a $US 4.6bn, 30-year contract to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the new line in October 2019. Construction is expected to be completed in 2024.
