The 5.5km double-track line from Lund Central station to Science Village linking the mainline rail network with employment centres and research institutions in the northeast of city. The line will serve nine stations and trams will operate at 7.5-minute headways.

Procurement is divided into two tenders, one covering civil works and infrastructure and one for the tram fleet. The rolling stock tender calls for seven 30m-long low-floor LRVs which will be 2.65m wide and capable of accommodating up to 130 passengers.

Infrastrucutre is expected to cost SKr 776m ($US 90.4m) with a further SKr 175m for rolling stock and SKr 180m for the line's depot.

The project is due to be completed by 2019 and an extension to Dalby is proposed in the longer-term.
