The project will extend the line from its current western terminus at Mixcoac to an interchange with Line 1 at Observatorio, with two intermediate stations, Valentín Campa and Álvaro Obregón.

According to the Ministry of Works and Services of the Federal District, the winning consortium submitted a bid of Pesos 1.68bn ($US 107m).

Electrical and mechanical works will be carried out by Alstom under an option from the contract for the initial phase of the line.

Construction will begin before the end of this month and civil works will be completed by next December.
