MPK Poznań awarded Modertrans Poznań a contract for 50 trams, including 30 unidirectional vehicles which have capacity for 240 passengers, including 56 standing, and 20 bidirectional vehicles which have capacity 233 passengers, with 48 standing. Both types have two single and five double doors, a first in Poznań.
The three-section LRVs have four powered bogies and eight 50kW traction motors, and all trams will be adapted for the installation of supercapacitors. The passenger space has six-zone heating and three-zone air-conditioning, USB chargers, wheelchair access, space for prams and bisycles, and a dynamic passenger information system.
The ergonomically-designed cabs are equipped with a pneumatically-adjustable seat, buttons on the armrest and multi-touch panels while the drive/brake controller is integrated in the driver’s seat.
Modertrans Poznań says the inverters are based on the latest seventh generation IGBT transistors, which reduces the dimensions and weight of the drive system by about 25%. In turn, this allows for better tram traction performance, reduced weight and consequent reduction in track wear as well as better energy efficiency and reduced noise.
