The 29.7km line from Sector 51 in Noida to Depot station in Greater Noida serves 21 stations, including 15 in Noida and six in Greater Noida.

Trains will operate at a commercial speed of 35km/h with services running at 5-10-minute headways.

CRRC Nanjing Puzhen was awarded a Rs 8.4bn ($US 120m) contract in March 2016 to supply 19 four-car metro trains each capable of accommodating up to 1034 passengers.

All stations are equipped with platform screen doors and offer passenger amenities including toilets and drinking water.

The Indian government and the state of Uttar Pradesh each covered 20% of the cost of the Rs 50.5bn ($US 710m) project, with loans from external agencies covering the remaining 60%.

In December, the Uttar Pradesh government approved the second phase of the project, which will extend the Aqua Line 15km from Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida.

The extension of the Delhi metro Blue Line to Noida Electronic City will provide an interchange between the two systems when Phase 2 of the Aqua Line opens.

There is currently no through ticketing between the neighbouring networks.
