The project will involve upgrading and electrifying the existing line from Prague Bubny to Hostivice and Kladno, with the construction of a double-track branch serving the airport, which will diverge from the existing line near Ruzyně station. This will enable the operation of up to six trains per hour at peak times between Masarykovo station in the city centre and Vaclav Havel with a journey time of 27 minutes.

The study estimates the total cost of the project to be Koruna 19.46bn ($US 790m) minus tax and the Czech government plans to seek European Union funding, which could enable construction to begin within three years.
