Stagecoach was awarded the 10-year fixed-term contract to operate and
maintain the Metrolink network in April 2007, taking over from Serco in
a deal which generated average annual turnover of around £22 million.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Metrolink made a pre-tax
profit of £4.1m in the last financial year.

Stagecoach says it is not negotiating the sale of its sole remaining
light rail contract in Britain, Sheffield Supertram, which it has a
concession to operate until 2024.
