Tasrail requires around 10,600 sleepers and 6km of rails for installation on sections of the South, Western and Melba lines. Bidders must attend site visits on July 21 and 22 and the work must be completed on the South line by October 4, the Western line by November 8 and the Melba line by December 6.

This is the second package of work under Tasmania's Rail Freight Revitalisation Programme, a five-year $A 239.2m ($US 176.5m) project launched in 2014-15 and funded equally by Tasmania and the Australian federal government.
