Services on Line 9 start at Alboraya-Peris Aragó in the north of the city, running west from the city centre on the airport line as far as Rosas before diverging onto a new 9.5km branch to Riba-Roja de Túria.
Only the first 640m of the branch is underground, with much of the remainder of the four-station single-track route using the alignment of a former heavy-rail line.
Services operate half-hourly from Riba-roja de Túria between 06.06 and 23.02 on weekdays with a journey time of 32 minutes between the western terminus and Xativa in the city centre.
With the launch of Line 9, the Torrent Avinguda - Marítim-Serrería service has become Line 7.
A further 5.9km three-station extension of Line 9 from Riba-roja de Túria to Vilamarxant is due to be completed in 2018.
