Around 8000 people took part in the public vote, with 3100 choosing the winning design, which was developed by the agency of Mr Ken Okuyama, who has previously designed cars for Porsche, Ferrari, and Maserati.
The 1.5kV dc trains will be built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and are due to enter service between 2018 and 2022.
