ALSTOM has completed the installation of interlockings on the 328km Eskisehir - Kutahya - Balikesir line for Turkish State Railways (TCDD), with the system now in service.

New interlockings on the first five sections, covering 182km, and a telecommunications and Traffic Control Centre (CTC) were commissioned on December 5 2020, with the interlocking on the remaining three sections covering 146km entering service on February 5.

TCDD awarded Alstom an €89m contract to install its Atlas ETCS system on the line in December 2011.

“We are proud to see the fruition of our work on the Eskisehir - Kutahya - Balikesir railway line,” says Mr Mama Sougoufara, Alstom’s Middle East and Turkey managing director. “We highly value our partnership with TCDD and fully support their efforts to elevate the high safety technologies with the introduction of our Automatic Train Supervision solution and implementation of EU standards to this signalling system through our European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS).”
