RUSSIAN Railways (RZD) signed a new five-year agreement on February 19 with Evraz for the supply of 3.2 million tonnes rail products worth Roubles 111.7bn ($US 2bn) using a formula-based pricing system.
EVRAZ has almost completed development of a new rail for use on the planned Moscow - Kazan high-speed line which is intended to have a maximum speed of 400km/h.
MR Patrick Jeantet, the newly-appointed CEO of French infrastructure manager SNCF Network, visited British Steel's Hayange rail mill in northeast France on June 14 to sign a contract for the supply of 120,000 tonnes of rail.
