Phase 2 covers a total of 2255km of line, encompassing both the installation of GSM-R on unequipped lines as well as boosting coverage on the Budapest - Hegyeshalom/Rajka line from level 1 to level 2.
Phase 2 works must be completed within 56 months of contract signing.
The GSM-R rollout will support the introduction of ETCS Level 2 and 160km/h operation on lines which have been modernised over the last decade, largely with EU funding.
