Trapeze will supply new hardware and software for the network's Intelligent Transport Control System (ITCS) as well as mobile technologies. Tram drivers will benefit from the installation of multifunction onboard computers as part of plans to upgrade the communications solution between the vehicles and control centre as well as passenger information displays at stations by using Tetra/UMTS communications technology. These systems will also be capable of transmitting real-time passenger and transfer information.
The project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and will take 30 months to complete.
