Poss can be used to monitor turnout, train detection systems, point heating, and other infrastructure assets and allows engineers to access data on the operation of assets via the internet. The system automatically alerts engineers to technical problems before they result in a disruptive failure.

Work started on linking 64 switches to Poss in March and a further 29 units will be linked to the system in September.

The rollout of the system at LU is the result of collaboration between Strukton and Siemens Rail Automation (formerly Invensys), which had been looking for a monitoring system to use alongside its Surelock point mechanism.
