BRITAIN's infrastructure manager, Network Rail, has awarded a 10-year alliance contract to Colas Rail and URS, United States, to renew switches and crossings in southern England and Wales.

The thee-way alliance deal is worth up to £400m to URS and Colas. URS will carry out the design work and Collas Rail will install the switches and crossings.

Work on the contract will start immediately and covers six of Network Rail's nine routes: Anglia, London North Western (South), South East, Wessex, Western, and Wales.
