Specifically the company will supply four SRM 500 sand removal machines, three Plasser 08-16 SH levelling, lifting, lining and tamping machines for plain track and turnouts, two DGS-90 N dynamic track stabilisers and three PBR 500 ballast regulating machines. SAR will operate the Plasser 08-16, the DGS-90 N and PBR 500 in combination as a mechanised maintenance train enabling all of the machines to work in coordination.

This agreement follows Plasser & Theurer's previous contract with Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) for the supply of eight OBW 10 Sprinter track motor vehicles and two Duomatic 08-32 SH cyclic-action two-sleeper tamping machines. SRO, in conjunction with contractor Al-Moboty Co has also ordered two SRM 500 sand removal machines, which will be delivered by the end of this year, and a Unimat 08-32 4S two-sleeper tamping machine which will enter service in 2013. Plasser & Theurer is also supplying contracting and track maintenance firm Saudi Archirodon an EM 120 track recording car which will measure, record and evaluate various track parameters.
