THE infrastructure division of Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) has awarded a Euros 7m contract to Siemens to install ETCS Level 2 train control on the 87km main line linking Vienna with Breclav, Czech Republic, which includes 11 stations.

Siemens will install its Trainguard 200 RBC which it says can be integrated with existing interlockings using standard interfaces. The project is due to completed by the end of 2013.

The contract includes an option worth Euros 4.5m to equip the new Central station currently under construction in the Austrian capital.
