The mountainous terrain encountered along the route will require the
construction of 34 viaducts and nine tunnels. The double-track
electrified line will be completed in 2015 and will have a maximum
operating speed of 220km/h.

The contract includes signalling and telecommunications systems, as well as a new station at Maghina, 450km west of Algiers.

Last May Anesrif awarded the same consortium a Euros 935.5 million
contract to build the 185km Tissemsilt - Tiaret - Relizane stretch of
the High Plateau Railway, an inland link from M'Sila to Relizane, which
will allow east-west traffic to bypass the existing Oran - Algiers -
Constantine line.
