The new contract encompasses the operation of three BRT lines together with light rail lines 1 and 2.
Scheduled for completion in 2018, Line 2 will be 22.5km long and will utilise the existing western branch of Line 1 from Ain Diab to Boulevard Anoual before continuing on a new 14.6km alignment to Benoussi via the city's main bus station.
Line 1 will also be extended 2km from its current southern terminus at Facultès to Laymoun and Lissasfa during the term of the new operating contract.
Line 1 is currently operated by Casa Tram, a subsidiary of RATP Dev, under a €70m five-year contract which began when the first phase of the line opened in 2012.
Consortium member RATP Dev will operate the system for 25 years and Alstom is supplying a fleet of 32 44m-long Citadis
