CAF has signed a comprehensive framework maintenance agreement with Knorr-Bremse covering various trains on several continents.

The “mid double digit million euro” agreement is initially for eight years and includes the maintenance of braking (including friction materials), HVAC and entrance systems installed on various vehicles including metro and regional trains.

Knorr-Bremse says the contract provides a comprehensive technological and framework agreement, which ends the need to spend significant time and effort negotiating maintenance contracts between the two companies. Instead, individual contracts can be quickly subsumed into the recently concluded framework agreement and then adapted to the specific vehicle maintenance requirements in each individual case.

The contract is part of CAF’s development of a global purchasing strategy based on establishing long-term agreements with strategic suppliers with the aim of improving competitiveness, raising the quality of its services, and proposing both future solutions and supply alternatives.
