RFI will upgrade safety standards, level crossings, tunnels, and accessibility to stations as well as measures to reduce hydrogeological risks.
The loan is part of €19bn in funds which Mr Graziano Delrio, minister of infrastructure and transport, ordered as part of the Stability Law 2015 and 2016. The funding will improve freight and passenger transport and regional, metropolitan, and high-speed networks.
