Selectron Systems employs more than 100 people and produces a variety of products and systems including traction control management systems (TCMS), traction drive control units, fault diagnosis systems and data loggers, driver's cab automation systems, door and lighting controls, and wheel slide and anti-skid protection systems.
Knorr-Bremse says it wants to expand Selectron's product range through innovation while the new subsidiary will be able increase sales by tapping into Knorr-Bremse's worldwide sales and service network.
This latest acquisition forms part of Knorr-Bremse's long-term strategy to expand its business beyond its original core activity of manufacturing braking systems. It has already acquired specialist manufactures of products such as train doors (IFE), air-conditioning systems (Merak), station platform screen doors (Westinghouse), electro-mechanical and electronic components and systems (Microelettrica Scientifica), and train driving simulators (Sydac).
