The trains are awaiting an Authorisation to Place in Service (APS) from the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA). Three of the bi-voltage 25kV ac and 3kV dc trains are currently at Velim with Leo Express having an option to purchase 30 more sets.

The option includes the possibility to equip the trains with 15kV 16.7Hz ac electrification equipment used in Germany, a proposition which Leo Express says it is exploring after securing certification to operate passenger services from the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) last month.

Leo Express has been active as an operator in Germany under a subcontract with Flixtrain, to operate Berlin - Frankfurt - Stuttgart service although this partnership ended in October.
