ROLLING stock leasing company (Rosco) Akiem has ordered 65 Vectron AC and Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility.

The order was placed under an existing framework agreement that was signed in December 2021.

The first order for 20 Vectrons was placed at that time, with these locomotives due to be delivered in mid-2024.

The latest batch of Vectron locomotives to be ordered will have a maximum power output of 6.4MW and can be delivered with a maximum speed of either 200km/h or 230km/h. They can be used to haul cross-border freight as well as fast passenger services in many European countries.

“We are delighted to be increasing our fleet of Vectron locomotives,” says Akiem Group CEO, Mr Fabien Rochefort. “We look forward to offering passenger and freight operators throughout Europe the fleet they need for a sustainable and reliable service. We are convinced that the 85 Vectrons ordered by Akiem since December will meet our customers’ expectations.”

“We are especially pleased that the Vectron, with its unique modular design, will be making a significant contribution in the Akiem fleet to cross-border European freight and passenger services,” says CEO Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility, Mr Albrecht Neumann. “With this order, we have also reached the milestone of 1500 Vectrons being sold.”
