Following the completion of tests at Salzgitter, the 200km/h ICNG set, which is based on Alstom’s Coradia Stream platform, will move to the Velim test circuit in the Czech Republic for dynamic testing. One of the trains will also be sent to the Rail Tec Arsenal facility in Vienna for climatic tests.

NS says the exterior livery and interior fitting out are yet to be completed on the first set. The trains will carry the standard NS blue and yellow livery.

NS awarded Alstom a €800m contract in July 2016 to supply 49 five-car and 30 eight-car ICNG sets.

The first train is due to arrive in the Netherlands next year and the fleet will be introduced from 2021 onwards, initially on Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Breda IC Direct services via HSL South.
