Under the £117m contract, which runs until December 11 2022, Bombardier will maintain a fleet of 20 Bombardier class 221 Voyager diesel-electric multiple units (DEMU) at its Central Rivers depot.
Each of the five-car trains will receive an interior refresh and be fitted with an upgraded Wi-Fi system at Bombardier’s Ilford depot.
The new agreement follows Bombardier’s previous contract to maintain the 200km/h fleet for the former Virgin Trains franchise.
