CALGARY City Council has awarded CAF a €300m contract to supply 28 Urbos LRVs which will operate on the new Green Line. There is an option for a further 24 LRVs.  

The seven-section 42m-long LRVs will have capacity for 288 passengers with 73 seated and will be fully accessible. The contract includes the design, manufacture and commissioning of the LRVs as well as the delivery of depot parts, specialist tooling and testing equipment and a technical support and maintenance spares supply agreement.  

The LRVs will be used on the $C 4.9bn ($US 3.91bn) 46km north-south Green Line. Construction is underway of Stage 1 which comprises 20km and 15 stations that will connect Shepard, where the LRV depot will be located, with 16 Avenue North.  The new line is due to be completed in 2026.
