The contract covers the supply of two 30m-long vehicles, which will be delivered at the end of 2023, and 62 60m-long LRVs made up of six sections, which will arrive from the end of 2024. The contract also includes an option for up to 47 additional vehicles.

The 60m-long vehicles will have a capacity for 195 passengers and will have 10 doors on each side.

The fleet will be equipped with driver assistance systems, including a collision warning system as well as automatic dipped-beam headlights, rain sensors, air-conditioning, LED lighting and a digital passenger information system.

The vehicles will be assembled at Alstom’s Barcelona plant and will have steel car bodies and six pivoting bogies on the 60m-long LRVs, with onboard electronics and traction converters supplied by Kiepe Electric and a hydraulic braking system by Knorr-Bremse.

“This is the largest single order in the history of Kiepe Electric,” says Dr Jürgen Wilder, head of Knorr-Bremse’s Rail Vehicle Systems division.
