CZECH Railways (ČD) has awarded Škoda a Koruna 5bn ($US 225.4m) contract to deliver a further 31 three-car RegioPanter EMUs, which will be delivered in 2024.

The new trains will operate on lines in Prague and the Central Bohemia, Ústí nad Labem and Hradec Králové regions.

The new EMUs will feature air-conditioning, barrier-free boarding, spaces for prams and bicycles, Wi-Fi, USB ports, charging sockets for mobile devices and electric wheelchairs. They will be equipped with ETCS.

The order means ČD has exercised the final remaining option for new trains from a Koruna 15bn framework agreement signed in autumn 2020 for 110 trains.

Mr Tomáš Ignačák, deputy chairman of the Board of Škoda Transportation, says the latest order is almost a new vehicle compared to previous generations of RegioPanters.. He explained that this is because virtually all the systems onboard as well as the traction drive, the control system and bogies have been improved.
