The trains are part of an order worth around €900m for up to 60 Desiro HC regional EMUs awarded to Siemens by IR in 2018, which included an initial order for six four-car trains and 18 six-car trains.
The two trains have been delivered to the Friedenson terminal at the port, and are due to undergo testing at IR’s new testing and commissioning site at Mishmar Ayalon, near Ramla station.
The fleet is due to begin entering service in 2021.
