Hyundai Rotem delivers first Ahmedabad metro train

THE first of 32 three-car trains, which Hyundai Rotem is building for the new two-line Ahmedabad metro, arrived in the Indian port of Mundra on December 29. The second train should arrive in late March or early April.

The first Hyundai Rotem metro train for Ahmedabad arrives in India.

The former Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad awarded the Won 177.1bn ($US 157.2m) train contract to Hyundai Rotem in November 2017.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation plans to start trial operation on the initial 6km elevated section of Line 1 between Vastral Gam and Apparel Park on January 15. The 20.7km Line 1 includes a 6km underground section between Apparel Park and Shahpur. The line then continues on the surface via Old High Court, the interchange with the 18.5km north-south Line 2, to Thaltej Gaam. Line 2, which is also under construction, will run from APMC north to Motera.
