The handover took place on October 1 in the presence of Thailand’s prime minister Mr Prayuth Chan-o-Cha. The 72 four-car trains will operate on the 34.2km Khae Rai - MinBuri Pink Line and the 30.4km Lat Phrao - Samrong Yellow Line.

Thailand’s prime minister Mr Prayuth Chan-o-Cha onboard the new monorail train with Mr Claudio Tiraferri, managing director of Bombardier Transportation Thailand.

Bombardier is also supplying wayside systems and its CityFlo 650 CBTC system. The trains will have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and the system will be able to transport 28,000 passengers/hour/direction.

The trains are being manufactured by the CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems (PBTS) joint venture, based on Bombardier’s original Canadian design.
