FSE awarded Newag a framework contract in December 2015 for up to 15 Impuls 2 sets with an initial €20.2m order for five three-car trains for Bari - Taranto suburban services.
Italy’s National Rail Safety Agency (ANSF) has granted an Authorisation to Place in Service (APS) for the fleet to operate on the Italian main line network.
On May 27 FSE exercised a €24.2m option for a further six three-car trains. Deliveries will be completed within 19 months.
