Newag emerged as the sole bidder for the contract for the electro-diesel vehicles, which also includes options for up to six additional trains.

The order will be the first dual-mode vehicles to operate on the Polish rail network.

The announcement follows the rejection by KD of a previous Zlotys 169.74m ($US 40.9m) bid by the manufacturer for the supply of six of the vehicles in April after the price was deemed to be 44% above the planned budget of Zlotys 118m.
