ST Petersburg transport operator Gorelectrotrans has awarded PK Transport Systems (PK TS) a contract for 54 two-section 71-923M Bogatyr M and three 71-931M Vityaz M three-section LRVs, with the first six to be handed over by May 31. The LRVs are fitted with driverless technology.

The main assembly of the LRV bodies will be undertaken at the Tver Mechanical Plant of Electric Transport, before they are sent to the Nevsky Plant in St Petersburg for final assembly and testing. PK TS says the LRVs are constructed using 80% domestic materials.

The Bogatyr M LRVs are a two-section, four-axle, low-floor design. Seated capacity is for 45 passengers and standing capacity is for 93 passengers. There are four doorways and spacious storage areas. The LRVs are equipped with USB charging sockets, Wi-Fi and a climate control system.

The driver’s cabs are fitted with a new display and modified ergonomic seat, and the most regularly used controls are duplicated on the armrest.

The Vityaz M LRV is the flagship design from PK TS and is of a modular design. They feature a revised headlight design, upgraded air-conditioning and sound insulation systems and are fitted with panoramic windows.
