The future plans include:

In July, the company awarded Stadler a Zlotys 1.bn contract to supply and maintain 12 eight-car EMUs.

“For us, the first half of 2019 was a time of further development,” says PKP Intercity board member, Mr Adam Laskowski. “By improving the quality of our services, we want to best respond to the needs of passengers who are increasingly willing to travel by our trains. We also plan many activities in the second half of the year.”

PKP Intercity says the first six months of 2019 was its strongest half year in a decade, with the operator carrying 22.8 million passengers, a 6% increase compared with the same period in 2018.

Under its “large investments” programme, PKP Intercity has already signed a contract worth nearly Zlotys 275m with Minsk Mazowiecki Rolling Stock Repair Works and Pesa Bydgoszcz for the modernisation of 14 ED74 EMUs, along with an option worth nearly Zloty 224m in a contract with H Cegielski for 26 additional 200km/h coaches.
