SPANISH national operator Renfe is to invest €35m on refurbishing 44 class S-130 electric and class S-730 bi-mode high-speed trains.

The plan is to upgrade the interior design and make the sets suitable for new services on new high-speed lines.

The 11-car trains were built by Spanish manufacturer Talgo between 2010 and 2012.

30 electric trains and 14 electro-diesel trains will be refurbished with new seats, floors, toilets and passenger information screens.

The Wi-Fi and Play Renfe content platform will also be upgraded.

Renfe expects the first trains to be in traffic by the end of the year, with the entire project due to take three years.
