The 1.8MW four-axle centre-cab DE 18s will be delivered in October, joining six locomotives of this type already in service with RheinCargo. The DE18s will be used around Cologne, Neuss and the Ruhr region.
The 5.6MW Traxx AC2 (class 185) locomotives will be used on a new intermodal service from Cologne to Hamburg, which is due to begin operating next month.
RheinCargo already operates a fleet of 10 Traxx AC3 locomotives.
