The hydrogen-powered Flirt H2 is expected to be introduced in 2024 as part of the Redlands Passenger Rail Project, a 14.5km line between Redlands and San Bernardino’s Metrolink station in California.

Under the agreement, Stadler will develop the hydrogen-powered train, which will consist of two cars on either side of a power pack that will hold the fuel cells and hydrogen tanks. The train is expected to have seating capacity for 108 passengers and additional standing room, with a maximum speed of up to 130km/h.
