Hitachi is supplying seven of the eight-car aluminium bodied trains, which will replace 10000 series Red Arrow EMUs on the two lines by the end of the 2019 fiscal year.

The interior and exterior design and styling concept for the 1.5kV dc trains was devised by Japanese architect Mrs Kazuyo Sejim.

The Laview features a reflective metallic exterior finish to help the train blend into the landscape, as well as 1.35x1.58m windows to offer passengers an improved view.

Tickets for the first public run will go on sale at 07.00 on February 16, a month before the train enters service.
