The cost of the 36 cars is estimated at Won 41bn ($US 34.6m), with a budget for the project of Won 45.4m. Closing date for bids is August 18.

Line 9 is currently operated by 25 four-car trains, which are used for stopping services, and 20 six-car trains which provide limited-stop express services on the 40.6km east-west line. The existing cars are 3120mm wide and 19.5m long. Both sets of trains were supplied by Hyundai Rotem.
