The trains will be primarily used on lines S2 (Křenovice upper station - Brno - Březová nad Svitavou) and S3 (Vlkov u Tišnova - Brno - Břeclav), and can be introduced on other lines as they are electrified.

The contract includes 31 four-car trains, which can seat up to 333 passengers, and six two-car trains, which can seat up to 146 passengers, with the full fleet to be delivered by December 2022.

“More than 100 of these modern vehicles will soon be in operation in the Czech Republic,” says Škoda Transportation vice-chairman of the board, Mr Tomáš Ignačák. “In addition, they will be launched in Slovakia next year and also in Latvia in 2022.”

Multifunctional compartments will include storage areas for bicycles, prams and bulky luggage, and the trains will feature accessibility for passengers with limited mobility and wheelchair-accessible toilets.

The trains are equipped with air-conditioning, an audio-visual system, power sockets with USB ports, Wi-Fi, CCTV and ETCS. An on-board passenger counting system will be installed, monitoring vehicle occupancy to allow the operator to improve connection planning and reduce operating costs.
